SEPT 6
This morning, we pray to God the Father, to Jesus his Son, and to the Holy Spirit who guides and comforts us.
Almighty God, hear us as we pray in faith.
Strengthen our Primate Linda, our Metropolitan David, our Diocesan Administrators, and all who serve you through your church. Be in the hearts and minds of our Episcopal Nominees Katherine, Carl, Sandra, and Elliott, and with their families, as we prepare for the election this coming Saturday.
Look with favour upon Elizabeth our Queen, Justin our Prime Minister, Stephen our Premier, and all elected officials, that they may heed your wisdom and govern with peace and justice, honouring all, that we may live in unity and share the common good.
As we serve you in one another, we ask your grace upon our families and friends, our neighbours and guests. Help us to share the beauty of your love.
Surround with your love all those who suffer in mind, body, and spirit. Grant them courage and hope in their distress, healing in their souls, peace and comfort in their present states. Be with their caregivers, and those who treat them, that all may know the trust and joy of your redemptive glory.
We hold in our hearts all those who have died, asking that they may rest in peace and rise in glory. We ask you to support those who grieve, as we honour the depth of their loss.
We hold up our gratitudes this day: for the love and friendship that we give and receive, for the abundance of creation as we head towards harvest time, for the opportunities before us to be kind and compassionate, and mostly for the gifts you have given us in this life. Help us to be a blessing this day.
As we raise up these prayers, we commend ourselves to your unfailing love. Amen.
SEPT 13
Holy One, we are blessed to glorify your name throughout all ages. This morning we ask your blessing on this your church: and especially for our new bishop-elect _____, his/her family and friends, his/her parish, and all who will undergo transition in the near future. May we all be blessed by his/her leadership as we continue to praise your name.
Unbounded Holiness, we ask you to surround the leaders of the nations, especially our queen, Prime Minister, Premier, and all elected officials. May their governance reflect your grace, and be of benefit to all.
Creator God, in your wondrous works you reveal beauty and joy to us beyond our imaginations. We thank you for the land which sustains us, the sea which amazes us, the air which supports our life. For the plants, insects, and animals that we have the privilege of engaging with in this careful eco-system, and of sharing the responsibility of care for its preservation.
God of connections, we pray for our hometown: for our families and friends, the people who live and work here, and for every encounter we will have this week. Help us to shine your light into every corner where we live, that all may see your way.
Companion, we pray for those who are sick: the people whose minds, bodies, or spirits are at dis-ease. Remove their suffering; empower their carers, refresh the exhausted. Help us find the language to express both our need in this world, and our trust in the next.
Comfort of all, we commend to your care the souls of all who have died, giving thanks for their life and witness. We ask you to embrace with your perfect love all who grieve and mourn.
Listening God, we thank you for hearing our prayers: from the words of our lips and the stirrings of our hearts. We thank you in advance for answering these prayers as is best for us. Amen.
SEPT 20
Almighty God, you have assured us that you hear us when we come to you in faith.
We pray for your holy church - asking you to inspire and support the leaders of this church, that it be for us a place of truth, unity, and concord. Pour your blessings on Bishop-Elect Sandra, Archdeacon Ian, and all who serve your people.
We ask you to speak to the hearts of the leaders of the nations, praying for our Queen, Prime Minister Premier, and all elected officials. Bless those who have offered their service to the benefit of our town. May their governance reflect your virtue of justice and peace.
As we enter into the season of changing leaves and cooler nights, we ask you to blanket our town with your love and grace. Fill our hearts with mutual respect and understanding for one another, and inspire us to compassion for all those we meet.
Bring comfort and support to all who are sick, in mind, body, or spirit. We ask that you may reduce their pain, remove their distress, and revive their being. Empower their carers, inspire the researchers, help us all to be assured of your healing grace.
We remember those who have died, whom we love but see no more. May they rest in peace and rise in glory; may your promise of resurrection bring comfort to those who grieve and mourn.
We pray for ourselves, holding before you all the burdens of our hearts, and all the celebrations of gratitude. As we journey forward, may the world know that we are your children because our words and actions reflect your love for us.
We bring you these prayers, gracious God, offering all that we are and all we have to raise glory to your name; through your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
SEPT 27
Beloved in Christ, let us raise our hearts to give glory to God, and name before the Almighty all those concerns which we bear in our hearts.
We pray for your church: the holy assembly of your people. For the leaders of our diocese and our denomination; for those of similar and opposing understandings of your Word, for all who seek you in their hearts. Renew in us your Spirit of holiness, that we may live all our lives to your glory and honour.
We pray for the leaders of the nations: our Queen and Prime Minister; all our elected officials and those standing for office. Guide their hearts that justice may prevail; and guide our actions as we strive to support them in their roles.
We pray for our world: for those places struggling with disasters and devastation; for communities ravaged by diseases and hatred; for victims of conflict and oppression; and for all who hurt others for their personal gain. Flood the earth with your love, surrounding us all with the desire to extend compassion for your sake.
We pray for our community: that we may be a tranquil place of peace and calm for those who live and work here. Keep our students safe, protect our workers, surround our retirees with your love. Shine your light into every corner of our lives, and help us to serve you with joy.
We pray for those experiencing need: need for basic physical necessities, need for improved living conditions, need for dignity and respect. Help us to offer assistance as we are able, without the cynicism and judgement that can so easily creep into our minds. Continue to bless us with inconveniences in our lives, that highlight the abundance we have, and which inspire us to lift others up.
We pray for those who are sick: with physical ailments, mental health concerns, spiritual malaise. Comfort their souls; support their loved ones; empower their caregivers; inspire those working, unseen, for medical and social solutions. Grant eternal rest to those who have died, and solace to those who mourn. Speak in our hearts the truth of your healing presence.
We pray for ourselves; lifting before you our thankful hearts for all the gifts of this life: for the blessings we celebrate and those that are unknown to us; for the wonders of the natural world and the joy of experiencing love. We give thanks for all the expressions of your glory, that are everywhere in our lives.
With all that we are, and all that we have, we pray to you: Amen.
