Parable of the sower – Jesus uses this analogy with the disciples, and then explains it.
Reminds us that God is the sower,
and the Sower – keeps sowing.

We are not the sower: the responsibility is not on us.
Meaning: trust in God to spread the seed.
Receive the blessings that God is literally casting upon you!
What good news.
Faith is a gift from God: showered with love upon us – with enthusiasm and reckless abandon –

And it continues -
We are the soil
Sometimes all different types of soil: life happens.

And what a blessing it is that God keeps sowing – for us –
When we know we’re going to be the fertile ground where growth will happen easily
But also when we’re not that good soil.

God never gives up on us;
God never stops investing in us.

Joy and delight when those seeds of faith fall.
Remember that seeds don’t all germinate and grow at once… they can lie dormant for a long time until the right conditions appear.

So it’s up to us – as soil – to receive what’s given us – and grow it to the best of our ability.

But this is a parable.
And one of the things about parables is that they have MANY layers and many meanings.

So what if we look at our role also as sowers.
Those who can take what WE have been given, and collected
And share it.
Disperse it, indiscriminantly.
Wherever we go, in the city: casting out
Maybe through: accompanying newcomers settle
helping at the Friendship Inn
educating against human trafficking
filling the food bin
advocating for policies that respect the environment and mitigate climate change

OOODLES of options.
But it’s up to us to open our own selves: hearts, hands, wherever we store our faithful seeds
To cast out.

And to trust that there will be reward:
Maybe 30, 60, 100fold.
And to rejoice that : That’s a lot.
Imaging if your savings account had that kind of return!!

For God will always use our offerings, and grow in faith.
We may not see it.
We may not understand it,.
But we do have faith>
For with God, everything and everywhere and everyone is the potential for the Kingdom to come closer.
