“In my view, Jesus did not tell parables so that everyone who heard them would nod their heads. He did it to stir them up and get them talking to each other about what, exactly, he wanted them to do.”
This week Jesus continues with parables.
Mustard Seed
Yeast
Treasure in Field
Pearl
Fishing Net
then a scribe in heaven.
Have you understood?
Yes! They say.
Really, though?
Diverse parables.
Diverse people.
Diverse contexts.
Now, Diverse centuries.
So...
Do we understand?
If no: good!
Because that means we're still open to learning.
To being stirred up.
To get to speaking.
When did we lst speak with one another about the parables?
About mission?
About ministry?
This is our calling... our responsibility... and our privilege.
So let's get talking... and sort out what Jesus is calling us to do.
As church is a VERB. Action.
And ministry is love put into practice.
How do you love God's world?
How do you understand God's kingdom?
How are you living the love of God in your context?
Let's get talking.
Let's get DOing.
Let's get loving.
